What you need to know before your apply

Here is a summary of what you need to know before you apply. When you have decided that you want to apply to our program, contact us first with any final questions, and then use our application form to apply.

Please remember that you are applying for acceptance into the program, and not registering for enrollment. There is no charge for applying. We will notify you as soon as possible as to whether you have been accepted into the Study Tours group session that you applied for. When you have been accepted, we will enroll you in the program. When you have been notified of acceptance, you must then send a registration fee, a tuition deposit, and the activities deposit in order to confirm your enrollment (see below).

Please remember to read the "Making Arrangements" section of our website so that you can prepare yourself for your stay here in Hawaii. Again, please contact us with any questions.

Registration fee, and Activities and Tuition Deposits

There is a $95 registration fee. This fee is payable ONLY when the student has received a written notice from us confirming their acceptance into our program. Students may submit the enrollment application free of charge. See our privacy policy.

After we have notified the student that they have been accepted into the program, they will be required to send us at least:  a non-refundable registration fee of $95 and a minimum 50% tuition deposit (50% of the total tuition due based on the number of weeks the student will be staying with the program), and An activities deposit of $385.*  We must receive these payments within 72 hours of their notification of acceptance into the program; otherwise we will select the next applicant on our list.  Until the student arrives in Hawaii, we recommend that they use our recommended method of transferring funds**.  We will give them all necessary information upon acceptance into the program.

The registration fee is a one-time payment that is not refundable.  The deposit is refundable when you meet the cancellation and refund policy requirements.

The activities deposit of $385 is fully refundable up until 30 days before the first day of class.  If the student cancels within the 30-day period before the first day of class, the activities deposit is non-refundable because it was used to make accommodations and other reservations for the student for the outer island study excursion.

*Students coming to us through an agent will usually pre-pay all tuition, registration, and activities fees.

**Pay Pal secure bank transfer, debit or credit card, or Pay Pal transfer  (Note: you do not have to be a member of Pay Pal to use this service) Pay Pal is the recommended way of making long distance payments primarily because it is more secure than most other forms of fund transfer.

Tuition Costs (please add 4.7% State of Hawaii excise tax to all tuition and fees unless otherwise noted)

Our tuition and activities costs are based on per-term (4 weeks) participation in one of four different group sizes: private, semiprivate, regular, and custom group sizes. Private and semiprivate groups receive much more intensive individual student focus so they are, of course, more expensive. The custom group is one that comes together from the same location, either a company or group of associated English students. Their costs vary depending on their needs. Custom groups please contact us for more details. Also, some activities become more expensive when expenses are shared out among a smaller group of students than the regular group size of 7 to 10.

Our curriculum design is based on a 3 term cycle. Each 4-week term in the cycle is dedicated to a different aspect of English language grammar, practical English usage, vocabulary, idioms, jargon and discourse management. Students who stay for more than 1 term receive successively wider spectrum of English language training.

Study Materials Costs

Students will be required to have one text book which is sold to the student at cost (the same price that we pay for the book), usually between $40 and $50. There is also a study materials fee which is $35, which covers all copies, digital material (data CDs, data DVDs, .mp3 transfers, etc.) and other handouts during the course.

Activities Costs

Activities are part of the deep immersion English experience at English Study Tours and students are strongly encouraged to participate. Most activities are provided at no extra charge to the student. There are a small group of activities, however, that have third party charges attached to them which we must pass on to the student. Some of these activities are as follows: the Hawaii shrimp farm study session; the Surfing Adventure, and any outer island sessions.

As mentioned, almost all other activities sessions are at no extra charge. See the chart above for activities costs. There may be other minor costs associated with activities that depend on a third party, like, for example, admission charges to public attractions, parks, or exhibits.

Miscellaneous Expenses

The student is responsible for personal expenses such as food, clothing, accessories, entertainment, and any personal services that might be requested.
